Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative: 


The project sustainable development of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta is an agreement of international cooperation between the European Union and Colombia, by the Ministry of Environmental Affairs, and it has the aim to promote the ecologically appropriate management of the eco systems and of its biodiversity, to reach the conservation of the environment and at the same time the well- being of the local people.

The activities of this project are amongst others:

  • Foster the intercultural processes and relationships among the main groups of the area: farmers, indigenous and urban people.
  • Reach a development in harmony with the natural area of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta.


Pickup info:

Pick-up will be at the cruise ship port of Santa Marta, or at your accommodation in Santa Marta, Rodadero or Taganga.

This tour includes:

  • Roundtrip transportation from Santa Marta and Rodadero to the Tayrona National Park 
  • Entrance fee for the Tayrona Park
