The ecohabs are the most exclusive accommodation within the Tayrona Park in Santa Marta. These bungalows have been inspired by the indigenous constructions of the ancient Tayrona tribe. They are built aloft so that you can enjoy privileged views of the Caribbean Sea and the rich vegetation of the park. The buildings are based on wood, with high roofs, which are covered with palm leaves, to reach an ideal temperature. These beautiful installations integrate you in the magic of the Tayrona Park.

A great advantage is that you are already within the Tayrona Park and you can walk from Cañaveral to discover the other beaches of the Tayrona Park like Arrecifes, la Piscina and Cabo San Juan del Guía.

It must be said that the Ecohabs "hotel" (that's what it is) is very expensive for Colombia in respect of both accommodation and food - it's only outdone in this respect by the best hotels in Cartagena.
However, there's no denying it's a great location, the "rooms" are amazing, and the food is very good. Staff were also friendly and helpful.
Minor things: (1) They could probably do more to help people explore - surprisingly, the hotel doesn't seem to push this aspect as much as they might, though they will make arrangements when asked. (2) The bit of generator noise from somewhere behind our particular Ecohab slightly interfered with the peace and tranquillity of the place (3) probably best to be aware that with the open nature of the accommodation, local creatures (birds? bats? lizards?) tend to leave little "presents" around the room!

The ecohabs are very nice, but it wasn't explained to us that we could not swim on the beaches nearby.Apparently, you can swim on the one beach ,but we were told that we would have walk about an hour to find a beach where we could swim. Also, people should be told that they will have to walk 200 steps if they have a hut at the top of the hill. Also, when we tried to call the service numers they didn't work.

The hot water wasn´t working. Nobody told us that, and when we asked about it, we simply got the answer: "yes, it´s not working", without any apologies nor effort to solve the problem. When I stay in a cheap place, I don´t expect it to be comfortable, but for 205 dolars a night I didn´t thing I would have to take a cold shower.

The Ecohabs are very nice but also very expensive. While I don't regret staying there in any way, I don't think that it was worth the money and there are probably other resorts that are all-inclusive that are more luxurious or afforable than the Ecohabs. The Ecohabs are probably nicer than other resorts because you get a lot of privacy.

We loved our stay at the Ecohabs but had left accidentally left one important item in our room. It was a little difficult to get connected to the hotel front desk but once we did, we were able to locate our item.

The view is absolutely great from all de ecohabs, what is missing is a good light at night for reading.
As well you have to be prepared to find some small insects in your room - well it is really in the jungle.

We stayed in the cabanas at Arrecifes. I would recommend the cabins for groups of 4 or 5 (families) because there were 2 beds upstairs and 2 beds downstairs. It is a bit expensive for just a couple, but the only other option is camping or renting a hammock.
