Tayronaka and Buritaca - Culture and Beach

Duration: 9 hour(s) - Location: Tayronaka in Santa Marta

Located close to the River Don Diego, Tayronaka is a perfect place for the aficionados of eco-tourism.

From its beautiful terraces and an indigenous settlement, you can both interact with the local residents to learn about their culture, thoughts and habits, and have an authentic meeting with nature. We will visit the small museum to learn about the Koguis, who are the direct descendants of the Tayrona tribe who ruled over this region a lonfg time ago. The Koguis have maintained a lot of their cultural habits and you will see that they have a very different way of thinking..it's really interesting!

Then, we will have lunch at the restaurant of Tayronaka, where you can enjoy great local dishes at very fair prices (max. 10 USD per person). After, we will chill out at the banks of the refreshing River Don Diego, next to the restaurant.

On the way back, we will stop at the beach of Buritaca, close to to the Tayrona National Park. The amazing thing about this place is its estuary mouth between the river Buritaca and the Caribbean Sea, with a picturesque island. There you can swim or hire a kayak, and there are also beach stalls and small restaurants directly on the beach.

THe Culture and Beach Tour is a good option for families and travellers who are interested both in Santa Marta's culture and beautiful natural places which are not crowded by tourists, and where you will learn a lot about the local culture.
