Minca is a picturesque coffee town located 14 km from Santa Marta on the rise in the Sierra Nevada to 650 m. high, with a spring temperature between 17C and 24C. Minca is a paradise with its river waters and its vast and lush vegetation. The mountain range of Sierra Nevada is the highest tropical mountain in the world. It has an almost complete range of ambient conditions for not only Colombia's environmental, but also the tropical world. This area is home to three indigenous groups: Koguis, Arhuacos, Wivas y Arsarios. From Mount Kennedy, at an altitude of 3100 m., with good weather you can see the highest peaks of the Sierra at dawn.
Playa Cristal, is considered one of the most beautiful beaches of the park. This beach was inhabited by several indigenous communities in the Tayrona over the years. Today this beach is the most visited and recognized of the Park and remains a place of special significance for the descendants of the Tayrona ethnic groups, especially for Kogui.
