Trek Cinto Beach Tayrona Park

Duration: 10 hour(s) - Location: Santa Marta Tayrona Park: Playa Cinto

Cinto is located in the central sector of Tayrona Park and the main beach is over 1 km long. The creek has a variety of environments: there is a coastal marine ecosystem composed of red mangrove areas and white salt; reefs surrounded by clear waters ideal for diving; the terrestrial vegetation is characterized by the presence a tropical dry forest containing common species of Kapok thorny, Mamon of milk, Uvita and  Aceituno. The area is inhabited by animals such as deer, jaguar, ocelot or bear ants. In the past this beach, like many others of the park, was inhabited by indigenous communities belonging to the Tayrona tribe. Cinto Bay is the most important beach from an archaeological point of view since remains have been found dating back to around 2000 BC. Today, the bay is still considered a sacred area and a place of penance by the descendants of the Tayrona groups, especially for Kogui.
