The Finca is located at Calabazo, 20 minutes from the city of Santa Marta. Its uniqueness consists of its access to Pueblito, home to the indigenous Kogui people (descendants of the Tayrona tribe). You can realize a hike of three hours to get to this ancient indigenous settlement, and then you will descend to the fantastic beaches of the Tayrona National Park. Or you can walk five minutes to the road and take a public bus, which takes you in five minutes to the main entrance of the Tayrona Park in Cañaveral.
Finca Portales del Tayrona has two different cabins, called Sol and Luna, with a capacity of 16 and 6 persons.
This accommodation provider has taken action to address one or more issues (whether environmental, social or cultural) which will contribute positively to the long term viability of the destination and hence their site displays a Caring for the destination rating.
Main area of focus in Caring for the Destination:
Recovery and maintainance of the natural area
Detailed description of the Caring for the Destination Initiative:
Calabazo is a place near the entrance of Pueblito of the Tayrona Park. This space has always been completely natural and until today, there are only a few houses and the eco-tourist cottages are generally embedded in wide natural zones. The vegetation there is unique because it is long- living and the passing river allows the land to be very fertile.
Since the country house "Portales del Tayrona" decided to get involved in the tourism sector, it has been in a process of recovery and maintenance of the natural area, for example by incorporating new wild flowers and by planting more exotic flowers to embellish the environment.
The tourists may also enjoy the fruits of the Finca's own fruit trees and the water produced by the Finca´s natural fountains.
The furniture and the decoration are based on the recovery of natural materials of the environment.
